Mulching
Forestry Mulching and Vegetation management is just one of the many services we offer at Spidermann All Terrain Solutions Ballarat, and our Spider Excavator is the perfect machine for accessing the difficult to reach areas that Gorse, Blackberry and other weeds may grow.
Forestry Mulching and Vegetation management is a quick and modern cost effective way to clear unwanted vegetation, trees, scrub and stumps with minimal ground disturbance, and Mulch is returned and spread across the cleared site which minimises erosion and returns nutrient rich organic matter back to the soil.
Why do we Mulch Gorse weed?
- Gorse is a major agricultural weed, invading all pasture types and significantly reducing grazing capacity as well as hindering stock access to waterways.
- Gorse out-competes young trees and shrubs, hindering the growth of native understorey species.
- Over time, soil impacted by Gorse becomes more acidic and loses nutrients.
- Presence of Gorse on your property greatly reduces its land value.
- Gorse is unpalatable to cattle and sheep. (Horses will eat new growth while goats eat mature plants).
- Gorse is a significant haven for rabbits, foxes, feral cats and mice.
- Gorse is highly flammable and poses a significant fire hazard.
- Gorse reduces visibility on roadsides
- In some cases Gorse may displace threatened species through inhibiting native plant growth and encouraging pests.
Why do we remove Blackberry?
- Blackberry is an invasive shrub. It is a threat to the environment and agriculture in Victoria due to its rapid growth and spread.
- It grows impenetrable thickets that exclude other vegetation.
- It can dominate pastures and native ecosystems as well as invade disturbed sites in urban areas.
- The dense thickets exclude native species, leading to its complete dominance of the vegetation understorey and eventually the canopy.
- The thickets also limit people's access, alter fire regimes and dominate the landscape.
